Pregnant?

Feeling miserable avoiding alcohol whilst you are pregnant? Drinking fizzy pop all night can make you feel like a blown up balloon. Here are some of our favourite drinks:

Ginger is really good at countering morning sickness and we are particularly fond of Fentiman’s Ginger Beer and Belvoir Ginger Cordial. (Both are available in most large supermarkets.)

Also apple juice mixed with crushed ginger or ginger cordial is really refreshing. In fact throwing a small chunk of root ginger into a blender with any mocktail ingredients can provide just the kick you need.

Don’t find yourself always being the nominated driver if you are pregnant. Get your partner or friends to avoid alcohol as well.

Why not organise a girls' night in? Or, organise afternoon tea at a posh hotel or spa. Some restaurants and bars also have great selections of Mocktails. Whatever you do, make sure you feel spoilt on a regular basis.

You could also hold a Canadian style ‘baby shower’ later on - a women-only party where gifts are shared and great food is eaten. Although you might have to remember that not everybody wants to eat cottage cheese and banana pizza!
